2019 Bursary Winners

Lucy Moran – Winner

Dear Lynne,

I wanted to write you an email to let you know what I put my prize money towards, after winning the bursary at Slough at Easter.

When I finish my GCSE’s next year, I would like to go to college to study Musical Theatre, and so I decided to put my £300 bursary towards the audition fees for the various musical theatre collages I am auditioning for. These collages are Performers Academy, Northern Ballet School, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts, Urdang Academy, Tring Park and Emil Dale Academy. I would love to further my training after this by completing a BA Hons in Musical Theatre.

I am very grateful for Slough Festival and all they have given me, it terms of confidence, opportunity and enabling me to find my love for the stage. Slough Festival has always been one of my favourite competitions of the year, and I am already looking forward to taking part again in 2020.

Best Wishes, Lucy Moran.

All of us at Slough Festival wish you the best of luck with your auditions Lucy.

Grace Wright – Runner Up

Dear Lynne

I wanted to send you a quick email to let you know what I have used some of the £200 bursary prize money on since coming runner up in April 2019.

I have spent some of the money taking part in dance workshops and I am planning to use the rest to attend a few more before Easter. I am currently in Year 9 at secondary school and still have a lot more dance training ahead of me and feel that regularly taking part in dance festivals really helps to improve you as an overall dancer and performer.

I was absolutely thrilled to be runner up this year, it has given me more confidence and belief in myself. I love competing at Slough Festival, everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and I am really looking forward to competing again in 2020.

Grace Wright

Thank you so much to everyone involved with running Slough Festival.

Good luck with all your future training Grace. Continue having fun!
Best wishes from all of us at Slough Festival.

Adria Rumbauskaite – Surrey Youth Ballet

Dear Lynne,

Thank you so much for giving me a chance to participate in the Surrey Youth Ballet summer school and performance. It was an amazing experience which helped me grow and improve so much as a dancer. I met so many lovely dancers and teachers who inspired me and improved my confidence, technique and performance skills. It gave me a great taste of what performing in a real ballet company showcase would be like and I am planning to audition for it again in April. Thank you once again and I look forward to meeting you in April at the friendly Slough Festival.

Kind regards, Adria Rumbauskaite
