2024 Bursary Winners

Winner – Gabe Hyde

When I received this bursary I was just about to audition for Team GB to compete in the World Tap Championships for the third time, which this year was in Prague. I was very fortunate to not only get into the team but also to have three dances; a solo, a duo and a formation. I went on to receive two silver medals and one bronze.

I was very grateful to receive the bursary money and used the money to buy tap shoes and to pay for the costumes I needed for this competition.

I have competed at Slough for many years and would like to thank all the organisers and helpers who continue to make Slough Festival possible.

Runner Up – Tom Brown

The Bursary that I won from Slough aided me to get everything I needed to start my training at Laine Theatre Arts. To cope with the financial cost of everything that goes with Drama School I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship, but, it goes without saying that buying the uniform and all the hidden costs that goes alongside training professionally, do not come at a cheap price! I used the money to contribute to buy my new leotards, tap shoes, LaDucas and much more in order to be able to make the most out of all the fabulous opportunities I am able to have! Having performed and led pieces at the Christmas concerts, to being specifically chosen to workshops new musicals, the funding definitely gave me that extra platform that I needed to get going. I am super grateful to have been able to have received this wonderful bursary, and it definitely helped me so so much in being able to fulfil my dreams! Thank you so much for the team at Slough for being able to give this out every year, your help is greatly appreciated!
